In recent days of August, officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters received a report that a woman had been attacked and robbed in the city center in the evening. KPP: “The witness interview and the evidence not only failed to confirm the information provided by the alleged victim; on the contrary, they raised a number of doubts.

And adds:

Step by step, the criminal investigators began analyzing the findings and recordings from surveillance cameras, clearly indicating that no such incident had occurred on that day, at that place, or at that time. Ultimately, the woman who made the report admitted that she had reported a fictitious robbery and had stolen several thousand złoty from the store’s takings, which she was supposed to deposit into her employer’s account, and handed the money over to another person.

And adds:

The robbery case will be discontinued, while proceedings against the 26-year-old will be brought in connection with theft, reporting a crime that did not occur, and giving false testimony.

It also warns:

The law clearly states that anyone who reports a crime to an authority responsible for prosecuting offenses, knowing that no crime was committed, is subject to a fine, restriction of liberty, or imprisonment for up to two years. Anyone who takes another person’s movable property with the intent of appropriating it is subject to imprisonment for between three months and five years. As for the last of the alleged offenses, anyone who, while giving testimony intended to serve as evidence in judicial proceedings or other proceedings conducted under an act, gives false testimony or conceals the truth is subject to imprisonment for between six months and eight years.
