– A woman reported to the Lubań County Police Headquarters and told officers that a female acquaintance and an unknown man had made criminal threats against her, threatened to take her and her son’s lives, and attempted to extort money from her – reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer for the Lubań police.
She adds: – The incident reportedly took place last week. The victim received a call from a 39-year-old woman, who suggested meeting in a car park.
The suspect, accompanied by a 44-year-old man from Zgorzelec County, arrived at the meeting in her car. The aggressors ordered their victim to get into the vehicle and then drove to another location. The spokesperson said: – The man began insulting the woman, threatened her and demanded that she hand over a specific amount of money, which was supposedly intended to prevent other people from abducting her. (The victim’s acquaintance was involved in the scheme.)
The 39-year-old woman was detained several hours after the report was made. Asp. szt. J. Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń:
Meanwhile, her 44-year-old acquaintance from Zgorzelec County did everything he could to avoid confronting the officers, so in this case it was necessary to force entry into the apartment where the man suspected of attempted robbery-related extortion was hiding. During a search of the apartment, criminal investigators found a radio, a safe, a blank-firing gun and more than 100 saleable doses of a narcotic. The items and drugs were secured for evidentiary purposes.
The 39-year-old woman has already been charged with attempted robbery-related extortion. The prosecutor placed her under police supervision. The suspect is also banned from leaving the country and from approaching the victim.
Meanwhile, the detained 44-year-old accomplice was remanded in custody by the court for three months. Both suspects face a sentence of between one and as many as ten years in prison.
