The cooperation involves conducting joint scientific and educational initiatives, organizing demonstrations and workshops presenting the practical application of exact sciences, and in particular IT-related issues, popularizing modern technical solutions, and jointly promoting scientific activities as part of this program.

In May and June 2023 group of ZSE students from Bolesławiec took part in classes organized by KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. as part of the “Digital Future of Copper” program.

The first session took place at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, at the Faculty of Information and Telecommunications, where students had the opportunity to attend lectures by engineer Tomasz Serafin (“Image Processing Mechanisms”) and Dr. Eng., architect Tomasz Zamojski (“3D Scanner”).

At the second meeting, knowledge was shared by Dr. Eng. Piotr Ciskowski (“Neural Networks Without Secrets”) and Dr. Eng. Tomasz Szandała (“The Explainability Problem in Neural Networks”). The students were supervised by Dr. Eng. Jacek Mazurkiewicz, the dean’s plenipotentiary for cooperation with secondary schools.

The third and final session took place at the General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces in Wrocław, where students attended a lecture on cybersecurity. As a surprise, AWL staff and students organized a field game that enabled participants to learn the principles of providing first aid in field conditions. There was also an opportunity to take part in simulated shooting exercises.

This concluded the pilot series of sessions and lectures prepared by KGHM Polska Miedź COPI Branch. Further classes for young people are planned after the summer holidays.
