The incident took place on July 14. Zgorzelec police received a report that an intoxicated mother had caught her child’s hand in a door. – The officers who arrived at the scene – suspecting that violence had been used against the eight-year-old boy – detained his 35-year-old mother – Agnieszka Goguł, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec, told the NaStyku.pl website. – Agnieszka Goguł, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. – The child’s life and health were the most important things for the police officers. The officers notified the family court about the entire incident, as well as the district family assistance centre, and contact was established with MGOPS Węgliniec. The minor was taken to hospital.

It turned out that the mother was completely drunk at the time of the incident; she had nearly 2 per mille of alcohol in her system. The woman was detained and heard several charges: exposing a minor to the immediate danger of causing serious harm to health; abusing a minor through psychological violence in the form of insults and verbal abuse, as well as physical violence; and two charges relating to making criminal threats.

The Zgorzelec prosecutor’s office is handling the case. The suspect is under police supervision and is banned from approaching her son.
