Over the weekend, we received two more reports concerning problems with street lighting in Bolesławiec. The first person to report the issue wrote:

Another night without street lighting. Opitza, Drzymały, Wybickiego, Brody streets. It’s dark; you can’t see anything. It’s frightening to walk anywhere. Even the municipal police couldn’t do anything on Saturday (I called after 12 p.m.), as the city office is closed on weekends.

They added sarcastically: – Even in the housing cooperative, if the intercom or elevator breaks down, I have contact details for people on duty who can help quickly, “almost immediately.” But in a city where several thousand residents live on the streets listed above, is there no way to effectively report such a serious failure? I can report it, of course, but when will anyone deal with it? I understand that it’s summer: it gets dark late and light early, but people finish work at 10 or 11 p.m. How are they supposed to get home in such a situation? Cars are parked along these streets. Where is the safety?

The second reader, in turn, wrote: – The city boasts about the market square’s illumination, while street lighting is switched off two streets away. Three days ago, a lamp post that had been installed just a few days earlier was sparking. On Thursday, the emergency power service arrived and fixed the fault. (THE SPARKING WAS CAUSED BY LIVE CURRENT IN THE LAMP POST, SO THE FAULT WAS FIXED; POWER WAS SWITCHED OFF ON SEVERAL STREETS.) But the important thing is that the market square is lit up. Our authorities have long not given a damn about anything except the market square. (Unfortunately, the reader did not specify which street near the market square they meant, even though we asked them to).

We once again asked the Bolesławiec municipal authorities about the matter. We will publish their response as soon as we receive it.

Let us recall that we recently reported on similar problems in the article New street lighting in the city is somewhat irritating. It flashes like at a disco or goes out for several seconds.
