During the long June weekend, Lower Silesian police officers will carry out intensified preventive and inspection operations on the roads of our province. During the “Safe Corpus Christi Weekend” campaign, which will run from June 7 to 11, roads leading out of cities, main traffic routes and other places where various types of incidents may occur will be monitored. Officers will watch over safety, traffic flow and drivers’ compliance with applicable regulations. They will serve at static checkpoints and conduct mobile patrols on the busiest routes.

Police officers will use marked and unmarked patrol cars equipped with video recorders, which make it possible to identify road pirates who endanger the safety of other road users. Officers will also check vehicles’ technical condition and drivers’ sobriety, because alcohol and bravado remain among the most serious threats in traffic.

Because traffic jams may form on main routes during departures and returns, as everyone wants to reach their destination as quickly as possible, officers appeal to travelers to set out sufficiently early. There is nothing worse than rushing on the road and trying to make up for lost minutes. Let us think about the people close to us whom we will be driving. Our irresponsible driving may put them in danger.

What else can be done to ensure that the journey there and back is not associated with any unpleasant incident? Let us check when the vehicle’s technical inspection is due, top up the operating fluids and see whether the lights are adjusted correctly. This will be particularly important after dark and when heavy rain begins to fall. It is worth setting out well-rested and, before leaving, checking that all passengers have their seat belts fastened.

Let us also remember to take common sense and prudence with us; they will be useful regardless of whether we are relaxing by the water, in the mountains or in other interesting parts of our country.

We wish everyone a pleasant rest and exclusively safe journeys!!!
