Junior aspirant Tomasz Nowak from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław:
Every police officer’s shift looks different, and none of the officers can predict how it will unfold. Officers from the Independent Prevention Police Unit in Legnica are a perfect example: immediately after their briefing, they were sent to handle an incident involving a man moving along a road while holding a pistol, in order to ensure the safety of citizens.
And he adds: – The duty officer at the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters was alerted to the danger by frightened residents of nearby localities. According to the report, the man was moving along the road and looking around at nearby properties, while holding a pistol in his hand.
He also adds: – The officers from the local Independent Prevention Police Unit understood the seriousness of the situation as soon as they were assigned the incident. They immediately went to the indicated area and then spotted the person described, who was indeed holding an object resembling a weapon in his hand.
The officers’ swift and professional actions led to the subduing of the 22-year-old and taking the weapon from him. However, it later turned out that no permit was required for it.
At the time of his arrest, the 22-year-old had a blood alcohol level of more than one per mille. He was taken into police custody.
