Officers from the Independent Counter-Terrorist Police Subunit in Wrocław, the Independent Counter-Terrorist Police Subunit in Opole and the Independent Counter-Terrorist Subunit in Gorzów Wielkopolski, as well as from the Criminal Investigation Department of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin, supported by officers from other departments of the Lubin headquarters, conducted operations at selected addresses in Lubin.

– Operational findings indicated that members of an armed organized criminal group involved in drug trafficking might be staying there. In the early morning, police officers forcibly entered the premises occupied by these people – explains junior aspirant officer Tomasz Nowak from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

During the operation, officers detained seven men and one woman. Spokesperson: – All of them are residents of Lubin, aged between 25 and 54.

The suspects’ homes and utility rooms they used were thoroughly searched. Junior aspirant officer T. Nowak: – The operation resulted in the seizure of, among other things, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the form of marijuana and methamphetamine, mobile phones, laptops, firearms and ammunition, an electronic scale for portioning drugs, as well as cash in Polish currency.

All those detained were brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubin, where they were charged. They will be held responsible for participation in an armed organized criminal group intended to commit crimes involving the distribution of drugs. At the prosecutor’s request, the court temporarily detained seven people for three months.

For participation in an armed organized criminal group, the Criminal Code provides for a sentence of between six months and eight years’ imprisonment, while leading such a group is punishable by up to 10 years behind bars. Possession of drugs is punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment, while possession of a significant quantity carries a sentence of up to 10 years. Drug trafficking is punishable by up to eight years’ imprisonment, while trafficking significant quantities carries a sentence of up to 12 years.
