The document was handed to Marshal Cezary Przybylski. – I would like to thank the local government officials for today’s meeting. We discussed the development of Lower Silesia, as well as the situation in the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly. The immense number of messages of support shows that our actions meet the expectations of the region’s residents, and that is what matters most to me. The foundation of work in local government is building respect and understanding through dialogue – says Cezary Przybylski.

As reported by UMWD:

Local government officials from across the voivodeship came today to meet with Marshal Cezary Przybylski. During the talks, they presented an Open Letter signed by more than ninety representatives of municipal and county governments. In it, they expressed their concern over the fact that the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly had not granted the voivodeship government a vote of approval for 2022.

The document states:

Our voivodeship’s budget is the budget of all Lower Silesia’s residents, enabling us to carry out investments for the residents of our municipalities and counties, improve the quality of life of local communities, and also cooperate for the benefit of Lower Silesia.

The letter was signed, among others, by local government officials from Bolesławiec County, including mayor Piotr Roman and chairman of the Bolesławiec City Council Józef Pokładek, mayor of Nowogrodziec Robert Relich, deputy head of Bolesławiec Municipality Roman Jaworski, head of Gromadka Municipality Ryszard Kawka, head of Osiecznica Municipality Waldemar Nalazek, head of Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality Mirosław Haniszewski, as well as Bolesławiec County governor Tomasz Gabrysiak and chairman of the Bolesławiec County Council Wojciech Kasprzyk.

What is this about?

The Regional Assembly’s vote on the vote of approval, held two weeks ago, ended in an 18:18 tie. The lack of a majority was tantamount to denying the voivodeship government the aforementioned vote of approval. The local government officials said: – It is worth recalling that the execution of the 2022 budget by the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Government received a positive opinion from the Regional Chamber of Audit, which further emphasizes the political nature of its denial by the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly.

They added:

The lack of a vote of approval for the voivodeship government may have negative consequences for the region’s development and, in many cases, directly threaten the possibility of completing numerous investments that have already begun.
