On May 15, a female resident of the city reported to the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters. She informed officers that her bicycle, worth PLN 1,300, had disappeared from a utility room.
Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters:
The woman said that she had last seen her bicycle about a month earlier.
The bicycle had been kept in a locked room used by the residents of the tenement building.
Officers determined that the theft had been committed by a former resident of the building, who still had a key to the shared room. The bicycle’s owner did not know the thief; she only recalled that he had once been her neighbor.
The man was detained and charged with theft. He now faces up to five years in prison. The bicycle has already been returned to its owner.
Bolesławiec police officers add:
We remind you that the best way to deter potential thieves is to properly secure your property.
