The tragedy occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday (April 15–16). As reported by gazeta.pl, a man broke into one of the houses in Legnica and attacked two women staying there: a 37-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter. The older woman died before the ambulance and police arrived at the scene. The woman had injuries to her chest and neck.
According to the Legnica prosecutor's office, the wounds were most likely inflicted with a knife. The injured teenager was taken to a hospital in Legnica, where she underwent surgery. Her life is not in danger. After the fatal attack, the perpetrator fled the building and attacked another woman, injuring her arm. Fortunately, she did not suffer more serious injuries.
The man was detained by the police. He was hiding in bushes; blood was visible on him, and he had a bloody knife with him. The detained 36-year-old was known to the police for previous crimes against life and property. On the night of the tragedy, he probably intended to rob the house he had broken into and did not expect anyone to be inside.
Today, the man was brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Legnica, where he was charged with murdering one person and attempting to murder another. The prosecutor asked the court to remand the 36-year-old in temporary custody. According to local media, a total of eight Ukrainian women lived in the building on Struga Street in Legnica. The women rented the house and worked in our country.
