Yesterday afternoon, police officers from Bolesławiec received a report of a “police officer” scam. The victim was an 83-year-old resident of Bolesławiec, who lost more than PLN 25,000. Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters: – Before noon, the woman received a first phone call informing her about technical problems related to the delivery of correspondence.

The next call came from a man impersonating a police officer, who referred to the conversation about the undelivered letters. He said that the callers had been fraudsters, and that he was working to arrest them.

The caller told the senior woman that she could help catch the criminals and gave her instructions on what to do. One of the 83-year-old’s tasks was... to withdraw money from the bank and leave it in the indicated location.

After 4 p.m., the victim was supposed to receive another call. When this did not happen, the senior woman realized that she had fallen victim to fraudsters and notified officers of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.
