Last week, the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski received information about fuel being stolen from an agricultural tractor that was located on a property in the Lwówek Śląski municipality.
– Uniformed officers from the Lwówek command were immediately sent to the scene. In a conversation with the person who reported the incident, the officers initially established that the perpetrator had damaged the fuel tank of an agricultural tractor and stolen a significant amount of diesel fuel – reports Staff Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer for the Lwówek police.
A handler with a police tracking dog, Zuma, was also sent there. Following the perpetrator’s trail, she led the investigators to a nearby property, revealing traces along the way, as well as items indicating criminal activity and barrels containing stolen fuel.
Spokeswoman: – The officers went to the indicated address, causing considerable surprise on the face of the man who opened the door. During the activities, the 36-year-old from Lwówek County admitted to the theft.
She adds:
This was not the man’s only offense. He also damaged property and broke into his neighbor’s utility building, from which he stole, among other things, technical equipment and fuel.
The 36-year-old was arrested and taken to police custody, and was later charged. The stolen property was returned to its owner.
The suspect now faces up to 10 years in prison.
