The results of the 12th edition of the Competition for the Mayor of the City’s Award for the best master’s or doctoral thesis on the history and contemporary life of Bolesławiec, defended in the academic years 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 at all public and non-public universities in Poland and abroad, were announced in Bolesławiec’s Council Chamber.

Five works were submitted to the competition:

  • doctoral dissertation “Concepts for the Reconstruction and Revitalization of the Medieval City in Lower Silesia after the Second World War in the Light of Polish and European Solutions”

The Competition Chapter met in the following composition: professor, habilitated doctor Krzysztof Rozpondek (Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław), full professor, habilitated doctor Jakub Tyszkiewicz (University of Wrocław), habilitated doctor of engineering, architect Anna Jaglarz (Wrocław University of Science and Technology), Małgorzata Słonecka (city secretary at Bolesławiec City Hall) and Jerzy Zieliński (who served as city secretary at Bolesławiec City Hall for many years).

The Chapter decided to award the first prize of PLN 3,000 net to Katarzyna Boćkowska. The second prize (PLN 2,000 net) went to Magdalena Gazur, while the third prize (PLN 1,000 net) went to Dariusz Gołębiewski.

Bolesławiec City Hall:

The Competition Chapter also decided to publish the history of the Bolesławiec orphanage, presented in Dariusz Gołębiewski’s thesis, in the “Bolesławiec Yearbook.” Magdalena Gazur’s doctoral dissertation “Around the Table. The Influence of Traditional Manufacturing Techniques on Contemporary Utility Forms” will be published in full at the expense of Bolesławiec City Hall.

In accordance with the competition regulations, the supervisors of the winning works received awards of PLN 1,000 net.
