A comment appeared on one of the internet applications stating that its author wanted to plant an explosive device at a location where the US president would be present. Warsaw police officers received notification about the post on Monday. Officers from Piaseczno immediately took up the case, wanting to identify its author as quickly as possible.
– Police officers from Jawor were next to take action, because the owner of the telephone number who posted the comment online was reportedly living in their area – explains junior warrant officer Paweł Noga from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The police officers knocked on his door first thing in the morning, and he himself did not hide his surprise when he saw them.
The 37-year-old was arrested and taken to a police detention facility. The spokesperson said:
The man explained to the officers that when he posted the entry in the internet application, he was under the influence of alcohol and found the whole situation very funny at the time. Fortunately, the 37-year-old did not possess any explosive devices.
The “joker” now faces up to eight years in prison. The would-be humorist was placed under police supervision and required to provide bail.
The uniformed officers said:
Let us remember that every piece of information of this kind is immediately and thoroughly investigated by police officers. There is no room for disregarding any signal here. It should also be remembered that those responsible for such incidents cannot feel immune from punishment, and no one is anonymous on the internet.
They added:
We remind everyone that people who choose to engage in such irresponsible behavior must expect criminal liability, as well as having to cover the costs of the services’ operation. We warn everyone against similar conduct, which can have very serious consequences and legal repercussions.
