On Friday, July 9, delegations from the County Office in Bolesławiec and Rhein-Sieg County (Germany) visited Oświęcim. Local government officials presented the city authorities with symbolic stones of remembrance and reconciliation. The stone from our county was decorated with elements of traditional Bolesławiec pottery.
A Mound of Remembrance and Reconciliation is to be built between the Auschwitz I and Auschwitz-Birkenau camps. It will have the shape of a truncated cone approximately 30 metres high. The stones brought to Oświęcim by delegations from around the world will be displayed in the local museum.
The Polish delegation included: County Governor Cezary Przybylski, Deputy County Governor Stanisław Chwojnicki and County Councilor Zbigniew Mitera.
