Over the past weekend, Bolesławiec police officers received a report that a delivery van was standing at the junction of the A4 and A18 motorways, with its driver sitting motionless, his head resting against the side window. The officers said: – The services were alerted by a driver traveling in the opposite direction, who became concerned by what he saw.
The duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec immediately sent a patrol there. When traffic police officers arrived at the scene, they noticed that the vehicle was partly on the emergency lane and partly on the traffic lane. The officers secured the area so that it would be visible from a distance to other drivers.
A man was sitting in the vehicle’s cab. He did not respond either to knocking or to the police officers’ voices.
Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
Because they suspected that the driver’s health or life might be in danger, the officers smashed the window to reach the unconscious man as quickly as possible. The officers’ intervention brought the driver around. They checked the 32-year-old’s basic vital signs and provided first aid. Unfortunately, contact with the man remained difficult, which, as it later turned out, was caused by health issues.
The emergency medical team called to the scene took over care of the resident of Greater Poland Voivodeship. The 32-year-old driver required hospitalization.
Bolesławiec police added:
Thanks to the passing driver’s response and the police officers’ decisive actions, the man can now recover in peace.
