The project involves teachers from Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Lithuania and Poland. The project focuses on healthy eating and introducing more physical activity for children, as obesity among children has been identified as a problem in all the countries participating in the project, as has children’s sedentary lifestyle caused by access to modern technology (phones and computers). The aim of the project is to exchange experiences and learn about the culture of each country.
– We have already visited Budapest in Hungary, where we talked about various activities at school. We also visited Klaipėda in Lithuania, where the topic of the meeting was healthy eating and the food pyramid for children. We exchanged experiences and learned about the wonderful culture of these countries. During the visit to Poland, which took place from 6 February 2023 to 10 February 2023, our guests had the opportunity to take a guided tour of Wrocław, the capital of Lower Silesia. A train journey to our town was also a major attraction. The City Game prepared by the Bolesławiec Museum of Ceramics was an interesting alternative way to discover the most interesting places in our town – says Ewa Szachowicz, director of MPP No. 7.
At Municipal Public Preschool No. 7 with integration classes, guests from four countries were able to observe gymnastic exercises conducted in groups by Polish teachers and then lead classes themselves, using games and activities from their own countries.
– We visited Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec, where our partners took part in demonstration physical education lessons. As part of the cultural programme, we visited the Knowledge Centre and the Living Museum of Ceramics. We took part in ceramics workshops – adds E. Szachowicz.
On the last day of the guests’ stay, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman presented all participants with certificates and a commemorative Bolesławiec ceramic mug. The participants in the “Do something good for yourself” project still have two meetings ahead of them: in Turkey in April and in Greece in May. During these meetings, they will be able to share new experiences and learn good practices for use in their institutions.
