Employees and officers from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław carried out 269 customs and tax inspections. In 2022, revenue from customs and tax inspections in the area of taxation (including excise tax) amounted to over PLN 96 million. The amount of tax irregularities identified during the inspections was nearly PLN 278 million.

Last year, the National Revenue Administration in Lower Silesia handled 417,593 customs declarations submitted at customs offices. Customs and Tax Service officers handled more than 1 million passengers at Wrocław airport.
Drugs
As part of combating drug-related crime in 2022, officers from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław—during both independent operations and joint actions with other uniformed services—seized nearly 57 kg of amphetamine, more than 51 kg of marijuana, 100 g of designer drugs and 69 g of methamphetamine. The total market value of the seized drugs was more than PLN 7 million.
Sebastian Polański, chief specialist at the Communications Department of the Tax Administration Chamber in Wrocław: – Moreover, Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Service officers, together with Police officers, conducted checks of drivers to determine whether they were driving after using intoxicating substances. Using their specialized equipment, they detained 13 drivers who were driving cars under the influence of drugs. They also carried out more than 10,000 roadside checks.
Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Service officers have mobile, modern equipment that scanned 4,365 vehicles. The officers prevented six illegal shipments of waste from being brought into Poland (more than 67.7 tonnes of rubbish).

In 2022, they also conducted inspections related to illegal gambling. During these operations, they seized 89 machines and more than PLN 108,000 in cash, as well as assets worth more than PLN 3.6 million secured from members of criminal groups organizing illegal gaming-machine operations.
He adds: – KAS activities in this area are not limited solely to closing illegal venues—we are also conducting intensive educational activities under the title “Gambling? Don’t let yourself get hooked”.
In 2022, the Lower Silesian KAS also conducted intensive inspections at marketplaces. During these operations, Customs and Tax Service officers discovered 1,784 items of counterfeit clothing bearing protected trademarks, worth more than PLN 74,700.
What is more, last year officers from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław seized around 7.7 tonnes of illegal tobacco, more than 5.8 million tobacco products and nearly 10 tonnes of dried tobacco. They also seized—among other things as a result of inspections—41 litres of illegal alcohol.
