The incident occurred on Friday, January 20, at around 1:30 p.m., at a Lotos fuel station on Daszyńskiego Street in Zgorzelec (owned by a company from Bolesławiec). A recording documenting the tragedy can be found online:

One of the tanks exploded. As reported by zgorzelec.info:

(...) the force of the explosion was so enormous that the body of the worker who died damaged the building’s roof.

Komenda Wojewódzka PSP we Wrocławiu reported on the incident:

The explosion occurred during work being carried out after maintenance had been completed, in an empty underground petrol tank.

Twelve fire service units took part in the operation, including: the Operational Group of the Lower Silesian Provincial Fire Service Commander, the district fire service commander from Zgorzelec, and the Chemical and Ecological Rescue Specialist Group from KM PSP in Legnica.

One person died; two were injured and taken to hospital. The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the matter.
