On Saturday morning, officers from the Lwówek police station received a report that a person wanted by law enforcement authorities was staying in one of the apartments in the Lwówek Śląski municipality.

– Upon arrival, the officers found only one man – reports Senior Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski. – After checking police databases, he was not listed as a person sought by the justice system to serve a prison sentence.

The 24-year-old explained that he had requested police intervention because he wanted to check whether he was wanted. He was fined PLN 500 for making an unjustified call to the police.

We remind you that in the event of a false report of a threat, an unjustified intervention or blocking the emergency number, we must expect criminal consequences under Article 66 of the Code of Petty Offences:
“§ 1. Anyone who: 1) intending to cause an unnecessary action, misleads a public utility institution or an authority responsible for security, public order or health with false information or in any other way,
2) intentionally blocks the emergency telephone number without justified cause, hindering the proper functioning of the emergency notification centre – shall be subject to arrest, restriction of liberty or a fine of up to PLN 1,500.
§ 2. If the offence caused an unnecessary action, a supplementary payment of up to PLN 1,000 may be ordered.”
