In 2022, fire protection units in Bolesławiec County were dispatched to 1,499 incidents, including 567 fires, 820 local hazards and 112 false alarms, which was a total of 57 fewer incidents than in 2021.
The uniformed officers explain: – Weather conditions were among the factors that had a very significant impact on the type and number of incidents. Fewer weather anomalies resulted in a decrease in the number of so-called local hazards, which include operations related to removing the effects of torrential rain or strong winds.
But they immediately add: – An increase in the number of interventions in 2022 was recorded in the case of fires, whose occurrence was contributed to by prolonged periods without rain and high temperatures. An increased number of fires was recorded mainly in forest areas, cultivated fields and other unused areas. Many of the outdoor fires that broke out required the involvement of substantial forces, including units from outside the county, as well as firefighting operations lasting many hours.
They also emphasize:
A major test of the operation of the national rescue and firefighting system in Bolesławiec County was the management and organization of multi-day rescue and firefighting operations during a very large fire at a waste-processing facility.
In 2022, 2 fatalities were also recorded during fires in Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality. There were also significantly more forest fires (61) than in 2021.
The County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec adds:
For volunteer fire service units incorporated into the National Rescue and Firefighting System, their operational area is the county, while for volunteer fire service units not incorporated into the system, it is the municipality in which they are located. (...) In addition to crews from the Bolesławiec Rescue and Firefighting Unit, the volunteer fire services from Warta Bolesławiecka, Nowogrodziec, Różyniec, Trzebień, Czerna, Ocice, Gromadka and Osiecznica recorded more than 100 call-outs. This is positive evidence of the commitment and mobility of the firefighter-rescuers from these units. Thanks to the high mobility of the State Fire Service units and the volunteer fire services cooperating with them, in 2022 fire protection units reached incidents within 15 minutes in 83.5% of interventions undertaken in the county.
