Lubań district police officers stopped the driver of a Renault for a roadside check. It emerged that the 33-year-old resident of Lubań County did not have a driving licence.

The man was travelling with a 34-year-old resident of Lubań, who, on seeing the police officers, threw away a container hidden under his clothing and then attempted to leave the scene. – His attempt to flee was quickly brought under control by experienced police officers, who restrained the 34-year-old – reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubań.

She adds:

After the discarded container was examined, it turned out that it contained packets filled with a white powder. Analysis confirmed that the substance secured inside was amphetamine. The suspect was detained.

What about the driver? The spokesperson says: – Due to a reasonable suspicion that the Renault driver had committed an offence, namely driving a vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substances, he was detained and taken to hospital, where blood was drawn for further tests. He was released after the procedures were completed.

If it is confirmed that the 33-year-old was driving under the influence of drugs, he could face up to two years in prison. The Renault passenger, meanwhile, could face up to three years behind bars.
