Bolesławiec criminal investigators identified a suspect in the theft of more than 170 chocolate bars based on surveillance footage. The perpetrator, wearing a baseball cap and a neck gaiter covering part of his face, entered the store and packed his “sweet” loot into a bag.

The surveillance cameras recorded the entire incident, and despite the disguise, the criminal investigators recognized the man, who is well known for similar offenses.

The 35-year-old from Bolesławiec was spotted by plainclothes officers in another store. After being arrested, he explained that he had sold the chocolates to random people. The theft carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.

Criminals steal because there is still demand for goods obtained illegally. Police remind the public that purchasing items obtained through a criminal act is an offense.
