Police officers from the Legnica traffic police, called to deal with a road incident that occurred at the 91st kilometre of the A4 motorway, spotted a woman driving a Mini Cooper against the traffic as soon as they entered the interchange.

Aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław:

The 41-year-old resident of Gdańsk was fined PLN 2,000 and received 15 penalty points.

The officers' route was then blocked—in exactly the same way—by a 34-year-old Ukrainian man driving a Renault van. Police: – The driver effectively prevented any vehicles from reaching the scene of the road incident. He was also fined PLN 2,000.

When the officers finally reached the scene they had been called to, it emerged that the person responsible was a driver who had tried to… reverse on the motorway. The spokesperson said:

The 28-year-old resident of Złotoryja County, while stuck in a traffic jam at the 91st kilometre of the A4 motorway toward Wrocław, tried to reverse and hit a properly positioned passenger vehicle. The driver was fined PLN 5,000 for creating a hazard in road traffic.

Police:

Driver, if the road you are travelling on begins to jam, move to the edge of the carriageway in accordance with the applicable regulations and do not wait until you hear the emergency services' sirens. Remember that the space left between vehicles must allow not only passage in one direction, but also a safe route back. U-turns and getting out of vehicles are strictly prohibited.

The police add:

We appeal for common sense and caution while driving, remembering that quickly and efficiently forming an emergency corridor in the event of a road incident can save someone's life. Under the current schedule of fines, people who violate the rules in this regard must expect severe consequences.
