– Drivers ignoring the applicable speed limits is common both in built-up areas and outside them – says Staff Sergeant Rafał Jarząb of the Wrocław Municipal Police Headquarters.
This type of situation occurred in one of the towns near Wrocław. Traffic police officers noticed a Citroën whose driver completely ignored the 40 km/h speed limit in force there. The 32-year-old was speeding through the village at 70 km/h.
Spokesperson:
The police officer clearly signaled to the driver to stop, and that was when it began. Upon seeing the uniformed traffic officers, the 32-year-old suddenly turned onto a side road. However, he did not get far, as moments later he was stopped for a check by officers who had pursued him in a police car.
It turned out that the man was fleeing because he did not have a driving licence. Staff Sergeant R. Jarząb: – The police submitted a request to the court to punish him.
He added:
The intervention did not end there. The 32-year-old also received four fines totaling PLN 8,600. For failing to stop for a traffic check – PLN 5,000 and 15 penalty points; for driving a technically defective vehicle – PLN 3,000; for exceeding the speed limit by 30 km/h – PLN 400 and 7 penalty points; and for failing to signal a turn – PLN 200 and 4 penalty points. The police also confiscated the Citroën’s registration certificate.
