– On the roads – mainly those running through small towns where there are no pavements for pedestrians or bicycle paths – pedestrians can be seen walking along the shoulder or roadway. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that they are intoxicated. As a result, these people pose a danger both to themselves and to other road users – reports Senior Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski. – Unfortunately, a 40-year-old resident of Lwówek Śląski municipality found this out personally when he stepped into the path of a properly moving vehicle.

The incident occurred on November 10, after 6:00 p.m. The Lwówek police duty officer received information about a road incident in Włodzice Wielkie. A pedestrian was reportedly hit there.

At the scene, police determined that the 40-year-old pedestrian was walking across the entire width of the road. The first vehicle approaching managed to avoid the pedestrian. Unfortunately, the Renault driver was not so lucky. Despite attempting to avoid him, the driver clipped the pedestrian and then drove into a ditch, where the car overturned.

The 40-year-old was taken to hospital, where it turned out that he had suffered only minor injuries. What is more, it emerged that the person responsible for the incident was completely drunk; he had three per mille of alcohol in his system. (The Renault driver was sober).
