– Police officers from the Patrol and Intervention Division of the Legnica police headquarters were dispatched by the duty officer to an apartment in Legnica, where, according to the report, a man was allegedly stabbed by a neighbor who then locked himself in his apartment intending to take his own life – reports aspirant Katarzyna Baniewska from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.

She adds: – The officers quickly arrived at the address given in the report. Every second counted, as a human life was at risk.

The door to the 22-year-old’s apartment was barricaded. The man’s mother came to the officers’ assistance and handed them the keys to the apartment.

When they entered, it turned out that the resident was standing on the windowsill. He wanted to jump from the ninth floor.

Spokesperson:

The intervening officers—thanks to their calm and composed demeanor, as well as the conversation they held with the desperate man—calmed the young man and persuaded him to abandon his plan to take his own life. As a result, the 22-year-old stepped down from the windowsill and was then placed in the care of paramedics. He is currently staying at a specialist medical facility.

Fortunately, the 25-year-old attacked with a knife suffered only minor injuries. He did not require medical assistance.

Aspirant K. Baniewska concludes:

There is no doubt that the speed and decisiveness of the police response contributed to saving a human life. This is another example of the professionalism and commitment of Legnica police officers, who every day of their service strive to fulfill the words of their oath as conscientiously as possible.
