Ewa is a mother of two. She works as a nurse in the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Department. In July 2021, she received a brutal diagnosis: malignant HER-2+3 breast cancer. She began treatment quickly: chemotherapy, breast-conserving surgery, radiotherapy and Herceptin treatment.

– The treatment produced the expected result. I felt great, enjoyed life and completely returned to work in June of the following year. I began functioning normally. However, this did not last long – Ewa recalls.

Unfortunately, in September 2022, she lost feeling in her hand at work. She experienced severe dizziness, problems maintaining her balance, and difficulties with concentration and memory. The merciless diagnosis was: cancer metastases to the brain.

– When I saw the CT scan on the computer screen... shock and disbelief; my first thought was: how did this happen? I felt so well. My second thought was: how do I tell my parents and children? – Ewa accepted the diagnosis in disbelief, but she did not break down.

Despite the difficulties, she told herself that this was not the time for complaints and bitter lamentation. According to her colleagues, this is Ewa’s main characteristic: she is very brave and never gives up in difficult situations. – She is warm, open and always ready to help people – says Sylwia, a work colleague who, together with others, became involved in providing help and co-organising the charity concert.

Ewa is a cheerful and positive person. She is a homebody who loves her children, dog and experimenting in the kitchen. Cooking and baking are her great passion and talent. She feeds her culinary delights not only to her family. Her work colleagues were regularly given the results of her favourite recipes, which Ewa collects. Cooking is a way of celebrating everyday life, but also a form of therapy. Savouring life is her speciality, after all. She loves the sea and most enjoys relaxing there. She loves animals and people. As can be seen, the kindness and heart she always gave them are now returning to her with great force.

Ewa: – I have won one battle for my life, and I deeply believe that this time, too, thanks to people of goodwill, it will be possible to raise the funds I need so that I can enjoy life. Unfortunately, the amount exceeds my means, hence my heartfelt request for support.

The estimated cost of treatment is PLN 25,000–30,000, and that is for a single dose. The course consists of at least 12 doses administered approximately every three weeks.

Organisers:

We hope that the proceeds from the Bolesławiec concert will help Ewa with her treatment, at least in part. There will also be an auction of valuable items during the concert. Fundacja Wspierajmy Zdrowie has also joined the campaign.

We warmly invite you.

The concert will take place on 25 November at the Old Theatre in Bolesławiec. It starts at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
