– During their patrol in the municipality, officers from the Zgorzelec SPEED group of the Traffic Department noticed a Fiat driver at one of the fuel stations who was behaving very nervously – reports Commissioner Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the Commander of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec.
She adds:
When he saw the uniformed officers, he quickly got into the vehicle and set off at speed.
The officers signaled to the suspect to stop. He ignored them. He accelerated and began to flee. The spokeswoman said: – During the drive, he violated traffic regulations and posed a danger to other road users, who had to pull onto the shoulder to avoid a collision.
After the fugitive had driven several kilometers, he entered a field, got out of the car and began running away on foot. Without success. He was detained.
The person fleeing was a 34-year-old resident of Lubań County who, in addition to not having a driving licence, got behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine.
The extremely irresponsible man, who has already been fined PLN 6,000, now faces up to five years in prison.
