We were informed about the matter by Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec:
On Monday morning, Piotr, a forester from the Osieczów forest district, called.
From the conversation, I learned that some “joker” had decided to play a prank on us and broken a post marking a fire road.
“Who did it bother?” the forester asked.
The post stood by the Dobra–Osieczów road. The foresters said: – How determined this fun-loving person must have been, considering that the post was made of concrete.
They added:
Every year, in the area administered by Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec, we renew the existing fire-protection infrastructure signs.
Leaving aside the obligation to maintain the signs imposed on us by fire-safety regulations, these signs have repeatedly served as landmarks for lost tourists or mushroom pickers. There are no situations in the forest district in which two identical fire roads cross in two different places, so every post marking a fire road is like a precise address in the forest.
We will only add that an act of vandalism may result in a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison.
