The incident took place on Tuesday, October 18. Volunteer firefighters from Różyniec:

1:05 p.m. – Dispatch to a palace fire in the town of Tomaszów Bolesławiecki. We are leaving with two units. On arrival, it turned out that rooms on the ground floor were burning; they contained a large amount of rubbish.

They add:

The fire was so extensive that it spread to the upper floor, where we had to cut through the floor to reach the fire pockets.

Upon arrival at the scene, it turned out that a room on the ground floor of the abandoned building was on fire. Our unit’s task was to secure the scene, send a team wearing OUO breathing apparatus into the building to search for any unauthorized persons, and direct one hose stream at the fire. At a later stage of the operation, demolition work was carried out to locate all fire pockets.

The operation lasted over four hours and involved firefighters from Bolesławiec, Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, Krzyżowa and Różyniec, as well as the police, who are investigating the case.
