The slogan of this year’s—already 29th—clean-up campaign was: “All waste is ours”. The Municipal Office: – This simple sentence reminds us that every piece of waste on Earth was produced by people, and only we decide what happens to it.
Every year, in September, Bolesławiec schools and preschools also join the campaign. The organizers of the Bolesławiec campaign:
Students—from the youngest preschoolers to teenage eighth-graders—set out into the nearby and more distant surroundings to contribute to improving the state of the environment. Five hundred preschoolers and 1,500 primary school students took part in Clean Up the World. They cleaned up not only the areas immediately surrounding their institutions. They also tackled Bobrowa Ścieżka, the cemetery on Ptasia Street (Primary School No. 3), the area around the former Tesco (Primary School No. 1), the park by PKP and a section of the Planty (Primary School No. 2), the playground on Łukasiewicza Street and H. Bonin Park (Primary School No. 4).
The institutions participating in the campaign are supplied with bags and gloves by the Municipal Centre for Environmental Education, while the collected waste is picked up by the Municipal Utilities Management Facility in Bolesławiec. The municipal government adds: – We all hope that the result of many years of educational efforts will be a significant reduction in the amount of waste we produce and the skilful, responsible handling of what we have produced, because “All waste is ours”.
