The St. Luke’s Hospital secured its place on the podium through the implementation of the program entitled “Intestinal Microbiota Transplantation as a Chance for Recovery.”
Intestinal microbiota transplantation involves the enteral introduction into the body of a suspension of bacteria isolated from a donor’s stool.

The only indication for fecal transplantation in Poland is a recurrent or treatment-resistant gastrointestinal infection caused by Clostridioides difficile bacteria. The treatment is more than 90% effective. This modern method has recently been used at the Bolesławiec hospital’s Internal Medicine Department, headed by physician Artur Nahorecki.
