Ministry of Education and Science:
Business and Management (BiZ) instead of the subject Basics of Entrepreneurship. The new, practical approach to teaching entrepreneurship in schools is intended to help students acquire key competencies and develop leadership skills. BiZ will be based on specialists’ knowledge, entrepreneurs’ experience and solutions from international markets.
When will BiZ be introduced in schools?
The new subject will be introduced in upper-secondary schools and will replace the subject Basics of Entrepreneurship from September 1, 2023.
– Reforming the subject Basics of Entrepreneurship is a step toward modern and practical teaching. The introduction of the new subject is intended to develop competencies for effectively managing one’s own finances – Minister Przemysła Czarnek emphasized. He added that, in time, the subject will be available as an option in the matura examination: – It will be possible to take it in the matura examination from 2027.
– If we calculated how much time during 12 years of education is devoted to entrepreneurship-related issues, it would amount to just two days. That is definitely too little – said Justyna Orłowska, the Minister of Education and Science’s plenipotentiary for digital transformation. She also added that the Report was the result of cooperation and numerous meetings with representatives of, among others, entrepreneurs and associations.
MEiN on consultations:
In recent months, consultations were held, involving more than 2,000 teachers and more than 1,200 students, as well as university rectors, academics, NGO representatives and entrepreneurs. The report is the final result of this broad cooperation. The issues discussed in it concern key areas of the BiZ subject in upper-secondary schools.
