Collection organizer and Piotruś’s mother:
The collection concerns my son Piotr, who was injured in an accident at school in 2020 and broke his leg. Since then, he has used a wheelchair. Piotr is autistic and has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. As a result of Piotr’s immobilization—after his leg was in a cast for 6 weeks following the fracture and then in a brace for 4 weeks—and the lack of rehabilitation during that time, the dystrophy has progressed significantly.
And she adds:
I would very much like to get him back on his feet so that he could move around independently, as he was able to before the accident. This requires intensive and systematic rehabilitation, which requires financial resources that we are increasingly lacking.
She also adds:
I am raising my children alone; apart from Piotr, I have two older sons. We live in a rented apartment on the third floor of a building without an elevator. Piotr takes steroids, is gaining weight, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to lift him and increasingly difficult to climb the stairs. I cannot take up employment because I receive a caregiver’s benefit for looking after Piotr.
She also appeals:
Therefore, we VERY, VERY MUCH ASK people with kind hearts who can and would like to support us to help finance regular, ongoing rehabilitation.
I WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL TO EVERYONE WHO ADDS THEIR BRICK TO HELP MY CHILD.
How can you help?
