The duty officer at the Lubań police station received a report of unexploded ordnance on Sunday, 4 September. – In a forest in the village of Radostów Dolny, a man who had gone mushroom picking discovered dangerous objects dating from World War II – reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Lubań. – A police patrol was immediately sent to the scene; it confirmed the discovery and secured the area.

She adds: – The officers secured the dangerous find against access by bystanders, while notifying bomb-disposal specialists from the military unit in Bolesławiec.

On 5 September, in the afternoon, the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment arrived at the scene. After checking the area for mines, it recovered an anti-tank hand grenade, an anti-personnel hand grenade and six rounds of Soviet-manufactured rifle ammunition.

If unexploded ordnance is found, the Police must be notified immediately. Do not touch it or move it elsewhere.

It is also important to secure the site of the discovery until the relevant services arrive and prevent other people, unaware of the danger, from putting themselves at risk.
