As the Ministry of Education and Science announced on 30 August:
Under the Act amending the Teachers’ Charter Act and certain other acts, in connection with the change involving a reduction in the number of teachers’ professional promotion levels from 1 September 2022, teachers’ average salaries have been assigned to three stages of teachers’ professional development, ensuring an additional increase in the salaries of people starting work in this profession.
The ministry adds:
Pursuant to Article 30(3) of the Teachers’ Charter Act, in the wording effective from 1 September 2022, the average salary of teachers will amount, for:
- a beginner teacher – 120%,
- an appointed teacher – 144%,
- a chartered teacher – 184%
of the base amount determined for teachers annually in the Budget Act.
Ministry officials explain that a teacher’s salary in the first year of work at a school will increase from 100% to 120% of the base amount, while the salary in the second, third and fourth years of work at a school will rise from 111% to 120% of the base amount. They add: – Moreover, in connection with shortening the period after which a teacher will be able to obtain the appointed-teacher grade, from 6 years to 4 years, the teacher’s salary reclassification will also be accelerated by 2 years. A teacher who, after completing 3 years and 9 months of induction into the teaching profession, obtains the appointed-teacher grade will already receive the average salary of an appointed teacher in the fifth and sixth years of work, rather than, as previously, that of a contract teacher. Their average salary in these years of work will therefore increase from 111% to 144% of the base amount.
The Ministry of Education and Science reports that from 1 September 2022 the average salary of a beginner teacher will amount to PLN 4,432.15. It explains:
This means an increase in the average salary of:
- a trainee teacher by PLN 738.69 (by 20%),
- a contract teacher by PLN 332.41 (by 8%).
From 1 September 2022, contract teachers will follow the professional promotion path under the previous regulations, taking into account the shortened internship required for the appointed-teacher grade pursuant to the Act of 5 August 2022 amending the Teachers’ Charter Act and certain other acts (Journal of Laws, item 1730).
