An LPG cylinder exploded on the fourth floor of a residential building in Bogatynia. The force of the explosion was so great that a total of three apartments were damaged.

The apartment where the explosion occurred was the most severely damaged. The explosion pushed the apartment’s exterior walls out of the building. Pieces of them fell around the block. A total of 23 people were evacuated.

A total of 29 fire service units, including four specialist units, were dispatched to the scene, with approximately 70 firefighters. The rubble was searched by specially trained dogs.

All three apartments on the floor where the explosion occurred were completely destroyed, while apartments on the floor below were significantly damaged.
Five people were injured (two directly in the incident and three as a result of the incident); they were conscious, responsive and handed over to emergency medical services.At the scene:
25 fire engines, approximately 70 firefighters, the Operational Group of the Provincial Fire Service Commander, the deputy district State Fire Service commander in Zgorzelec, the Operational Group of the District Fire Service Commander in Zgorzelec, specialist search and rescue groups with dogs from Wrocław, Wałbrzych and Lubin, as well as volunteer fire brigades.Two stairwells were taken out of use.
Total number of evacuees: 38, including five evacuated by the Fire Service.
The State Fire Service set up a shelter in tents for residents while the building was being inspected.
