Storms are forecast, locally accompanied by very heavy rainfall of 30 mm to 40 mm and wind gusts of up to 100 km/h, locally possible up to 110 km/h. Hail is possible in places.

WARNING! Heat is particularly dangerous for young children and older people, those with diabetes or hypertension, and people with heart problems. People taking medication should also exercise particular caution.

How to survive a heat wave?

  • avoid going outside during the hottest part of the day (10:00-17:00)
  • avoid excessive sun exposure and sunbathing
  • use sunscreen
  • do not leave children, animals or flammable materials in the car
  • wear loose, breathable clothing covering as much of the skin as possible; wear a hat and sunglasses
  • drink plenty of fluids regularly
  • avoid drinks containing alcohol and sugar
  • eat light meals, paying particular attention to the freshness of the ingredients
  • avoid physical exertion
  • take cool showers and baths. (A completely cold shower during hot weather may cause thermal shock)
  • avoid large temperature differences between air-conditioned rooms and cars and the outdoor temperature
  • close and cover windows during the day
  • stay in the coolest room in the house, especially at night
  • look after animals. Do not expose them to excessive sunlight, ensure they have unlimited access to drinking water, and ventilate the rooms where they stay
  • monitor your body’s reactions during hot weather. If you feel unwell, contact a doctor.
