– Officers from the “car theft” unit do not let up for even a moment in their fight against crime. Some time ago, we wrote about their arrest of two men involved in thefts in Środa County. This time, officers from the provincial police headquarters, working with uniformed officers from Bolesławiec, picked up the trail of criminals whose prey was cars stolen across our western border – reports junior aspirant Krzysztof Marcjan from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

And he explains:

Police officers often obtain operational information from various sources during their activities, and they must verify it. Sometimes the verification is successful, and officers already know that someone is involved, for example, in thefts. At that point, the most difficult stage begins: gathering evidence that will later enable the prosecutor’s office to bring charges against the suspects and, ultimately, secure the criminals’ convictions.

It was no different in the case mentioned above. The spokesperson says: – Only once the officers had sufficiently strong evidence that the 30- and 33-year-olds were in fact stealing cars could they take action.

In the morning, officers from Wrocław, assisted by uniformed officers from Bolesławiec, arrived in unmarked police cars at one of the car workshops. The dynamically conducted arrest surprised both men, who did not expect their criminal activities ever to come to light.

That day, the police not only arrested two residents of Bolesławiec County, but also recovered three cars they had stolen. Three Fiat 500s worth nearly PLN 180,000 were taken to the police impound lot. Junior aspirant K. Marcjan:

It turned out that each vehicle already had a rightful owner, but it was not either of the arrested men; the owners were German citizens, from whose area the cars had disappeared several days earlier.

He also adds:

It quickly became clear that the two men in their thirties were also involved in other types of crime. Officers seized more than 130 retail portions of methamphetamine and ecstasy from the older of the two. After being weighed and tested, the drugs were placed in police custody. The officers also discovered equipment needed for stealing cars.

The Bolesławiec court remanded the suspects in custody for three months. The men could face up to 10 years in prison.

The case is developing, and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
