Fire service operations at the Prodigo company plant in Osła have ended. The firefighters’ operation lasted 10 days; on a rotating basis, 400 fire service crews from Bolesławiec County and neighboring counties were involved in extinguishing the fire.
The last crew left Osła on Monday, August 15, at around 4:00 p.m. The site was handed over to the owner, with a recommendation that the owner monitor the situation.
In terms of the forces involved and the duration of the operation, this was the biggest fire in our region in recent years. (The Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service is preparing a detailed report on the operations).
The firefighters’ operations have ended, so inspectors from WIOŚ will now begin an inspection at the plant. Unfortunately, nearby residents will probably continue to feel the effects of the fire for some time. As a reader wrote to us in the early morning Reader:
August 16, 2022, 12:53 a.m. – the stench is out of this world, Różyniec. How much longer can we endure this stench? It has already been burning for 10 days, it smells of burned plastic, the windows are closed. And it doesn’t help at all... Will anyone be held responsible?
