On Thursday, August 4, 2022, the official celebrations of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade Holiday began at the Garrison Military Club, where everyone in attendance could listen to a concert by the Orchestra of the 11th Lubusz Armored Cavalry Division with soloists. The unit: – The gathering to the sound of music was an opportunity for reflection and a moment of contemplation. The time spent at the concert recalled historical events that were important both to the soldiers of the 10BKPanc and to all Poles.
After a symbolic refreshment, the invited guests attended a solemn Mass and then went to the square by the monument commemorating those who fell in Polish Military Contingents. The main part of the ceremony took place there—a tattoo with a change of the honor guard.
The commander of the 10BKPanc, Colonel Grzegorz Barabieda, Grzegorz Barabieda:
We have gathered in this place, which is special to us, to pay tribute and honor to all generations of Poles who shed their blood in the struggle for the freedom and independence of their Homeland. We bow the military banners, honoring the memory of those who fell on battlefields. (…) Let us also not forget the soldiers on active military service who, with great dedication, take part in missions around the world. In particular, let us remember those who fell—the heroes of our Brigade: Lieutenant Łukasz Kurowski and Corporal Hubert Kowalewski, who, fighting for the freedom and democracy of other nations, paid the ultimate price—their lives.
He added:
We, the soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, express our profound gratitude to you for ensuring that new generations of Poles have the opportunity to demonstrate their patriotism and love for their Homeland not only on battlefields, but also through daily conscientious and diligent service and work to strengthen the values that our ancestors paid for with their blood over the centuries. We will never forget the achievements and accomplishments of our predecessors; the fact that successive subunits of our Brigade accept the distinguished names and legacy of worthy predecessors is the best confirmation of this.
