At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and after restrictions were introduced, there were problems with the availability of rice, flour, pasta, groats... and hygiene products. After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, there were problems with fuel shortages at petrol stations and with money in ATMs. Recently, grocery stores have experienced problems with the availability of oil. Each time, it eventually turned out that the panic was unnecessary...

Now people have rushed to buy sugar. Some already have supplies weighing several dozen kilograms and, seeing that sugar is beginning to run out in stores, continue buying as much as they can and do not even hide it, saying that larger supplies will not hurt. That is why stores are increasingly imposing limits of 20 kg or 10 kg of sugar per receipt, and in some retail outlets its price is also rising.

Why is sugar in short supply in stores? There are several reasons. One is certainly the panic buying of this product by customers. It is also the season for making preserves. There are also problems and delays with deliveries, which retail chains are dealing with. This is due to logistical problems (a shortage of drivers, less frequent transport, etc.). The problems are also reportedly connected with the war in Ukraine and the geopolitical situation.

When asked in a store: Why is there no sugar?, sellers most often answer: Because it did not arrive, it will be in the next delivery etc.
