The government explains the introduction of the sugar tax as a concern for the health of Poles.

As reported by radiozet.pl:

The fee will amount to PLN 25 per litre of pure alcohol sold in containers with a capacity of up to 300 ml. For example, this means PLN 1 for a 100 ml bottle of 40% vodka, PLN 2 for a 200 ml bottle of 40% vodka and PLN 0.88 for a 250 ml bottle of 14% wine.

Sweet drinks will also become more expensive from the new year. The fee will be divided into a fixed and a variable component. The fixed fee will amount to 50 groszy for each litre of a drink containing added sugar or a sweetening substance. An additional 10 groszy will be charged for each litre of a drink containing caffeine and taurine (energy drinks). The variable fee will amount to 5 groszy for each gram of sugar above 5 grams per 100 ml per litre of the drink.

Work is underway on a rain tax

Work is also underway on a rain tax. This tax is intended to encourage people to install devices for retaining and collecting rainwater on their plots. According to the government, this measure is intended to improve Poland's hydrological situation and ensure a more effective fight against drought.

The website wp.pl reports on the planned rain tax:

The fee “for reducing natural land retention” is to amount to:

PLN 1.50 per year per 1 square metre of a building, in the case of plots without water-retention devices for water from impermeable surfaces permanently connected to the ground,

PLN 0.90 per year per 1 square metre of a building, for a plot with water-retention devices for water from impermeable surfaces with a capacity of up to 10% of the annual runoff from impermeable surfaces permanently connected to the ground,

PLN 0.45 per year per 1 square metre of a building, for a plot with water-retention devices for water from impermeable surfaces with a capacity of between 10% and 30% of the annual runoff from impermeable surfaces permanently connected to the ground.
