On Sunday evening, Bolesławiec police received a report about people fleeing after committing a theft. Officers from the Traffic Division of the Bolesławiec police unit found a group of people on one of the city’s streets holding an aggressive man.

According to the findings, the reporting parties made a citizen’s arrest of a 26-year-old man who had robbed them. The resident of Legnica County had arrived in Bolesławiec in a car without a valid roadworthiness inspection or mandatory insurance.

The 26-year-old, surprised by the victims near the scene of the crime, attempted to flee, but his car broke down, and determined residents of Bolesławiec detained him. The man threatened the victims, hoping in this way to escape and avoid responsibility for the crime he had committed. A friend was with the 26-year-old; seeing the commotion, he fled the scene. The detained man’s car contained various construction materials and equipment that had been stolen during a break-in at a construction site.

Officers secured the stolen items, detained the 26-year-old and began efforts to identify his accomplice. The second perpetrator was identified and then arrested by Criminal Division officers. The 29-year-old is also a resident of Legnica County.

Both suspects were charged with jointly breaking into a newly constructed residential building and stealing power tools, for which they face up to 10 years in prison. The 26-year-old will additionally face charges for making criminal threats.
