The incident occurred on July 3 in the morning. A man who was walking with a metal detector and had permission to do so found heavily corroded elements of a weapon from the World War II era near a parking area in Świętoszów.
The searcher notified the police. They secured the find.

What should you do if you find unexploded ordnance or misfired ammunition?
- Do not touch the object.
- Secure the area from bystanders, such as children, and mark it.
- Immediately report the matter by calling the emergency number 112; notify the police, municipal police, fire brigade, or forestry service.
