– A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday morning at a railway crossing on the road from Chróstnik to Osiek – reports aspirant Krzysztof Pawlik, deputy press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. He adds: – The 38-year-old motorcyclist entered the uncontrolled railway crossing at speed, even though the light and sound signals were indicating that a train was approaching.
The driver struck the right side of the locomotive, which was pulling freight cars, at a right angle.
The emergency services arrived at the scene almost immediately. A Polish Medical Air Rescue helicopter also landed. For more than 40 minutes, rescuers fought to save the 38-year-old motorcyclist’s life. Unfortunately, they were unable to save him.
