The distinction for the company also had an additional dimension. It was an unofficial farewell to Józef Król, the long-serving president of PWiK in Bolesławiec.
– Someone might say: a company, water, sewage—what is promotional about that? But really, believe me, Bolesławiec has received distinctions and awards many times precisely thanks to the Water and Sewage Company – Piotr Roman said during the award ceremony. – The latest distinction I received in Warsaw was the title of The Most Smart City, awarded to the city by the jury of the Smart City Competition. Our company implemented a system enabling fully remote and unattended reading of water-meter statuses, resulting from the transition from a radio system to GSM. What is important here is that our company shares this knowledge. It started as a small enterprise itself. Now there are four municipalities that are grateful to PWiK for taking them under its care, because the company’s actions have led to effective water management finally being established in Lwówek and Wleń. Today is an excellent moment to express our thanks and say that PWiK in Bolesławiec is a jewel in the crown of Bolesławiec companies. It is a company we can be proud of, and the solutions it uses have an impact around the world. We are light-years ahead of other companies thanks to president Józef Król and director Grzegorz Kozłowski – the mayor said at the gala.
The mayor of Wleń, the municipality where the company began operating on 1 January 2020, confirms the excellent cooperation with the company.
– I am proud that my municipality holds shares in PWiK, because I observe the market and can say that it is one of the most modern companies of its kind in Poland. This translates into costs, the quality of management and the fact that there are no problems with water – confirms Artur Zych.
Our company also receives a favorable assessment from Mariola Szczęsna, mayor of Lwówek Śląski: – You have an excellent partner, congratulations. I know this from experience—looking at my municipality, it was a very good decision.
Józef Król did not hide his emotion and thanked everyone on behalf of the company’s entire staff.
– Mr. Mayor, ladies and gentlemen, this is a moving moment because I am ending my professional career, and this is a time for wonderful reflections and summaries – Józef Król said. – To be able to promote such a beautiful city as our Bolesławiec, to promote a city that one likes, loves and respects, for which one lives, in which one lives and works, and to which one devotes one’s energy: it is an honor and a privilege. And receiving such an award is a tremendous joy, which I will want to share with all the employees. On this occasion, I would like to sincerely thank all those with whom I had the opportunity to work during my 47 years of professional work. Because if anything is achieved, it is thanks to people, and I work with wonderful people – added the former mayor of Bolesławiec.
