Officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn determined through operational activities that a 72-year-old man possessed illegal tobacco and cigarettes without Polish excise stamps. – The man was detained at one of the Bolesławiec markets, where he ran a business in a rented booth – explains junior warrant officer Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

She adds: – The officers’ suspicions were confirmed. In addition to legal goods, the 72-year-old also possessed nearly 4 kilograms of tobacco without Polish excise stamps.

That was not the end of it. Provincial Police Headquarters:

The police then searched the suspect’s home, where they secured more than 25,500 cigarettes and nearly 17 kilograms of cut tobacco.

It was estimated that the State Treasury could have lost more than PLN 40,000 in total. The 72-year-old faces up to three years in prison. The police are currently determining where the confiscated goods came from.
